We have never seen a pair of pictures presented like this before and the effect it has on the viewer when they are hung together is a little unsettling

not appearing until the 1920s

yet subtly banded into two segments on each of the four arms terminating on the heel into a final raised segment indicating that the spurrier was a skilled craftsman

What we cannot see here is just as suggestive as what we can
