Anigozanthos 'Yellow Gem' (Kangaroo Paw) Agaves tightly compacted flowersFull sun; regular water. Perennial native to Australia. Thick rootstocks send up clumps to 2 3ft tall and wide of dark green, smooth, sword like evergreen leaves. Yellow flowers on 4 5ft tall stems clothed with bright red hairs. Flowers attract hummingbirds. Bloom from late spring to fall if spent flowering spikes are cut to ground. Good cut flowers. Prefers light sandy soil or heavier soil with good drainage.
