replacing the very old original which appeared to be super-fragile old silk and was deteriorated in places

Large Antique French Carved Wood Foot Stool or Bench, Griffen Needlepoint Tapestry Top, Hobnail Trim DeBruyn unique with the "Robin Hood"The carving on this one is marvelous and undamaged. Intricately carved and beautifully preserved (note: needlepoint has a few flaws to mend). Thick wood and very sturdy, the legs once had wheels (1 left on to show you) but I think it's best if the small hardware is removed. Can't think of a need for a footstool to have wheels, but it was in fashion in c. 1840 60 when this was created. I have not polished nor treated the wood so you could see any
