The shelves were made by making cuts in the vertical sides and back panels of the rack and then origami folded into horizontal shelves. The result is a strikingly frivolous, open cupboard that although made from full European oak looks light and sculptural, and because of its playful form evokes references to the Carlton cupboard by Ettore Sottsass.
