They are hollow inside as shown in the photos. They look like mushrooms and would make amazing display pieces once sanded to expose all the color layers. Sanding these is very easy to do and theres no real wrong way to do it. 80 grit to start to reveal the layers and I usually go up to 1200 and clear coat it to finish it.
