and much more structured and full-bodied than it usually is in other vintages

Dark red/purplish fruit

the latter of which has the slightly older vines

except that it seemed like an interesting anecdote to share

Camille Giroud, Clos Vougeot Vintage:2016 The 1989 Latour shows similarly(from Petit Maupertui). There is enough reduction to dominate the fruit though it clearly seems ripe. Otherwise there is first rate volume, punch and mid palate density to the muscular flavors that are also quite firmly structured but even so there is less youthful austerity than is typical for Clos de Vougeot. Still, this is definitely going to require at least moderate patience and like the Chambertin, this is excellent as well. (92 95) 2030+
