Lean and tight, it's quite a departure from previous vintages, showing raw sour cherry, clove, toasted nut and a hint of orange rind but not much fruit richness or depth. Austere close grained tannins leave a mouth drying finish. The Brunello di Montalcino Poggio di Sotto is just as beautiful in bottle as it was in cask. This is a supremely layered,
